Jewelry Care
We recommend that you do NOT immerse your jewelry in water that has chlorine or other chemicals in it (i.e: a hot tub or pool).
Do not store your jewelry in humid areas like a washroom.
GOLD VERMEIL
Gold Vermeil is government regulated standard is above "gold plated jewelry".
Being more durable than basic gold plating with proper care it can last a lifetime. Its a more affordable option compared to solid gold but is still a high standard of jewelry, with a base of sterling silver it maintains its value over time.
All of our gold vermeil pieces meet the Federal Trade Commission standards of:
• having sterling silver as the base metal; using a minimum of 10k gold (we use 14-18k gold!)
• have a solid plating of a minimum of 2.5microns (we use 3 microns)
• use a minimum of 10karat gold (we use 14-18k!)
• our gold vermeil are coated with a protective finish and should not tarnish. However, ff they are exposed to chemicals or long term humidity then a quick buff with the polishing cloth we provide should remove any and all tarnish.
STERLING SILVER
The easiest way to keep your sterling silver jewelry from tarnishing is to wear it! The oils from your skin keep tarnish away.
There are a bevy of products on the market to clean and polish gold & silver but we find buffing the pieces with a soft cloth (like the one we provided in our shipments), warm water and mild dish soap works best and easiest. Keep sterling silver pieces away from humidity. For best long term results store them in an air tight container.
STAINLESS STEEL
Stainless steel is a great, affordable option to sterling silver. Its hypoallergenic and will not turn your skin green. Its slightly darker in color compared to sterling silver however it will not tarnish, even if it is exposed to chemicals, so you can swim with it on! We also over gold plated stainless steel. Again it is slightly darker in color compared to 14 karat gold but it is more affordable and easy to care for and will not ever tarnish. We actually love wearing it and are happy it is becoming more trendy :)
WHITE & YELLOW BRASS
Our white brass rings and bracelets should not turn your finger or wrists green. All of our yellow brass products are finished with a protective coating to prevent any tarnish or turning your skin green. (If a ring is turning your skin green it is usually a sign of an overly acidic body or a reaction to lotions or perfumes. If you don't want to change your diet or self care products, you can always coat the inside of your rings with clear nail polish.
Copper and Silver Electroplating
We do all the plating ourselves with environmentally friendly plating solutions. We prefer the look of unpolished plating. All natural patinas are kept on the pieces on purpose. We do our best to show you exactly what level of matte/shine is on each piece in our photos. If you prefer a shinier finish you can buff the pieces with a jewelry polishing cloth. Be VERY gentle as plated metal is not very thick. Sorry, but we will NOT accept jewelry returned damaged from your attempts to polish an electroplated piece.
